Uncolored copperplate engraving originally included as a fold out map to the 1740 edition of the London Magazine. These early magazine enlightenednad entertained readers with articles and stories concerning politics, historical nd current events exotic locations etc. The successful magazines contained illustrations to entice readers to buy a subscription. This detailed chart of the West Indies identifies all islands and mainland coastal towns, but most importantly the navigational routes taken by the Spanish galleons.
