Sam Thal (American,1903-1964)
Sam Thal lived and studied art in New York City, Connecticut and Boston where he exhibited widely. In 1938 and 1939 he was hired to design teaching programs for the Federal Art Project. Thal won numerous awards for his etchings and his work is found in many important collections. He was a skillful landscape painter whose compositions frequently included far distant vistas and foreground trees play a dominant role.
