"... Ready Reference Map of Washington to accompany The Washington Standard Guide."
A very attractive, beautifully colored and highly detailed map of the city extending from Arlington National Cemetery and the Potomac River to the Anacostia River in the south and to the United States Naval Observatory, the Zoological Park and the Soldier's Home Grounds in the north. A "ready reference index" occupies the upper right. The map clearly shows the four districts: Northeast, Southeast, Southwest and Northwest and how they radiate from the city center. A very decorative record of the city at the time of the First World War. We heartily concur with the statement printed in the margin of the sheet claiming that "Of this map we say that we consider the Standard Guide Map of Washington the best and handsomest city map we have ever made."
19 x 24 inches, sheet. Colored lithograph. Excellent condition.
